Zap Unwanted Hair With Laser Hair Removal
If you’re like the average US woman, you could whittle away almost two months of your life by spending it shaving your legs, armpits, and other hairy body parts. If you use disposable razors and replace them weekly, you’ve thrown about $52 worth of plastic and metal in the trash by the end of the year. Add that up over the rest of your life!
Waxing is worse. A high-end spa charges about $100 to do both legs fully, not including tax and tip. A few weeks later, you’re hairy again. In a year, you’ve spent at least $1200 to go back to the spa every month. If you never had to shave or wax again, you might find more fun and productive ways to spend your time and money.
Here at Elite Rejuvenations in Marion, Ohio, we offer state-of-the-art laser hair removal treatments with the Viora® IPL (intense pulsed light) and YAG laser system. If you’re fed up with nicks, painful waxing, and wasting time and money on waxing hair removal, read on.
Lasers zap hair at the root
The Viora uses multiple wavelengths of laser energy to target the melanin (i.e., pigment) in your hair and convert it to heat that destroys the hair. The laser heat also damages your hair follicles to prevent future growth.
Because your hair grows in cycles, every follicle isn’t on the same schedule. We need to target your hair follicles during the earliest part of their growth cycles, which means you need multiple appointments to effectively treat all your follicles at the right time. Every patient is different, but most have a series of six treatments spaced four weeks apart for optimal results.
The Viora features multiple delivery heads of various sizes, which allows us to treat both small and large areas. You can have laser hair removal just about anywhere on your body or face, including your:
You can choose to have us treat multiple areas at the same time. Depending on how much “ground” we cover, your appointment could last anywhere from 10-60 minutes.
Zapping is easy
When you arrive at Elite Rejuvenations, we escort you to one of our luxurious treatment rooms. You undress enough to allow us access to the part of your body being treated. We mark a grid pattern on your skin, which helps us make sure that we cover every inch of your target area.
The Viora has a built-in cooling system to keep you comfortable during your treatment. We can also provide an ice pack to cool and slightly numb your skin before your treatment begins. You can choose to take a couple of pain relievers approximately 20 minutes before your appointment.
While you wear protective eyeglasses, we pass the laser over your treatment areas. You might notice a warming sensation; some clients say they feel a series of snaps. Most women and men tolerate the treatment well, but if you need a break, just let us know.
After your laser hair removal session, you can get right back to most of your regular activities. You should avoid strenuous activity that could raise your temperature for at least 24 hours after your Viora session.
Prepare to zap
To get the most out of your Viora treatment, you should follow a few instructions. First, if you’ve been waxing, you need to revert to shaving before you have the treatment. You need to have hair in the follicle for the laser to target it.
Second, stay out of the sun, and always use sunscreen when you’re outdoors. Although the Viora is suitable for all skin tones, if you have a tan, even a fake tan, the extra melanin in your skin may interfere with the effectiveness of the treatment and could potentially cause skin discoloration.
After a series of treatments, expect to see and feel silky, smooth, hair-free legs. You may need a touch-up every year or two. Hair growth is linked to your hormones. Changes in your hormone levels because of pregnancy, birth control pills, or other factors can trigger hair growth.
